BPG at Ronald McDonald House - Meals from the Heart Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving Day 2022 – Our volunteer team from BPG visited Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney to participate in the Meals from the Heart program.
WHAT ARE RONALD MCDONALD HOUSES?
Ronald McDonald Houses are located within footsteps of major women’s and children’s hospitals across Australia. These Houses provide a homely and inviting place to stay for parents, guardians, carers and their siblings while their child is undergoing treatment in a nearby hospital.
HOW DOES MEALS FROM THE HEART WORK?
The program gave us a hands-on opportunity to support the families during their time of need directly. After a tour of the house, so we could learn more about the services offered to keep families together, we headed to the kitchen with much enthusiasm!
After cooking up a storm, we were invited to sit down in the dining room and share the meal with the families in the house and the Meals from the Heart volunteer supervisors.
It was a moving experience, the stories of the challenges many of these families are enduring was heartbreaking. It gave all of us reason to pause and be thankful for all that we have.
