Complete Printing Solutions
On Tuesday 7th February, BPG hosted the first of the Family Business Insider Series for 2017.
The Family Business Association (FBA) is an organisation whose goal it is to facilitate the success of family businesses by running programs and events which foster longevity and sustainability.
They offer specialist business and technical services while providing peer support and networking opportunities. One of these opportunities is the ‘Insider Series’. This allows a member to open their door for the evening to showcase their business and chat about what makes them tick.
Because membership of the FBA is so diverse, the series offers participants exposure to very different enterprises but also highlights the connections and challenges that all family businesses share.
We were honoured to be chosen as the first family business for the year to give an insight into our factory and philosophy. Even the perilous Sydney weather didn’t deter too many people from making the journey to our Wetherill Park factory!
The evening began with some mingling, drinks and nibbles. Members of the FBA had a chance to mix with BPG staff and clients on the landing overlooking the vibrant activity of the presses and finishing equipment below.
The group then moved in to the boardroom to be greeted by Wendy Foster (NSW & ACT Manager for FBA), with some words from Danielle Robertson (CEO of Danielle Robertson Consulting and NSW Chairperson FBA) and Hardeep Girn (Know My Life and NSW Committee member FBA).
The first screening of our new BPG corporate video was accompanied by Debbie and John (Joint CEOs BPG) fielding questions from an inquisitive audience and reflecting on the challenges and satisfaction of working with each other as brother and sister whilst being the 4th generation of a company that’s over half a century old.
Time for the tour! Small groups broke off and were guided through the wide format, prepress, print and finishing areas of the factory by our very knowledgeable account managers.
Our highly experienced factory, prepress and bindery managers (Trevor Sharpham, Brent Titus and Shaun Crotty) were on hand to answer questions along with our prepress, print and finishing operators.
Each group was able to view all aspects of the print job life cycle up close and ask questions as product was being produced.
After the tours were finished it was time for a couple more relaxing drinks, good conversation and collecting some goodie bags.
We felt the night was a great success. The positive dynamic was fuelled by people representing vastly different industries but sharing the core characteristics that being part of a family business brings.
We’d like to thank the FBA for giving us the opportunity to host this event, our guests and clients who made the night so enjoyable as well as our fabulous staff who helped showcase six of our essential qualities on the stairs…
Our complete range of printing services include point of sale material, business collateral, promotional material, kitting and distribution, books and publications and flyers and brochures. A high level of daily coordination exists between both our production sites – at Wetherill Park and Newcastle – maximising all our resources. By having tight control over our quality and production schedules internally, we save you both time and money.
